While strolling on a lively beach, I encountered a heart-wrenching scene—a tiny, one-month-old puppy abandoned and enduring incredible suffering.

Covered in thousands of ticks, they clustered around his ears and crawled over his frail, malnourished body. Despite the hardship, this little pup gathered enough strength to crawl toward me, his eyes full of desperation, silently begging for help.

Veterinarians promptly attended to him, spending a demanding hour removing the persistent ticks. Beneath them, the puppy’s emaciated form was revealed, weakened further by a belly swollen with worms.

When offered food, he ate voraciously, never losing sight of me, seemingly afraid of being abandoned again. Although the ticks were mostly gone, his challenges were far from over.

Initially, I believed his unsteady movements were caused by stress or malnutrition. However, further examination unveiled more severe issues: a spinal injury and a serious skin condition left untreated for too long.

The veterinarians also discovered he suffered from congenital rickets, worsened by neglect. We named him Oreo, and his path to healing began.

Oreo underwent physical therapy and received specialized care to build up his fragile body. His journey was fraught with difficulties and uncertainty, but his spirited resilience outshone the hardships he faced.
