Senior Pup’s Miraculous Rescue: HSLC Seeks Loving Foster for Recovery Journey
In late May, the Humane Society of Lebanon County (HSLC) in Pennsylvania sprang into action following a call from local police and fire services.
A dog had been found in a storm drain, and initially appeared lifeless. However, hope revived as the drain’s cover was lifted and the dog slowly raised his head.
Understanding the urgency, a volunteer and staff member from the HSLC hurried to the location, anticipating the need for immediate medical care.

The sight was heart-wrenching—a frail dog curled up and teetering on the brink of death. The team carefully rescued the pup, transporting him swiftly to an emergency veterinarian for necessary treatment.
In a fortunate turn, the dog’s owner was soon identified. The dog, a 15-year-old named Buddy, had been missing for three weeks.
An HSLC representative stated that they made several attempts to reunite Buddy with his owner, emphasizing that the primary concern was Buddy’s health and recovery.

Buddy received three critical days of life-saving medical attention, and slowly his condition began to improve. Despite his age, Buddy has shown remarkable progress; however, ongoing care remains essential.
He requires follow-up medical visits, ultrasounds, x-rays, and even an appointment with an eye specialist.
Given his age, sedating Buddy for procedures isn’t an option, so the best course of action is to find him a loving and patient foster home.

The shelter is committed to covering all of Buddy’s medical expenses, along with providing his food and supplements.
Buddy’s temperament is well-suited to households with cats and other calm dogs.
In the midst of life’s challenges, HSLC encourages a focus on compassion, support, and healing, urging the community to help find a foster home for Buddy. His journey to recovery continues, and with kindness, a brighter future awaits him.
