A local animal rescue group, Mascotas Coyoacán, sprang into action after receiving a distressing message about an abandoned dog chained to a park bench. When they arrived, they discovered a frightened puppy named Max with a note beside him.

The note, written in Spanish by a child, revealed that Max had been left behind because the parents were mistreating him, forcing the child to make the difficult decision to abandon the dog in hopes of a better future for him.
