Carlin was originally expecting a traumatized animal due to Maggie’s past, where she endured horrific abuse in Lebanon. Instead, she was greeted by a little dog full of life and warmth.

Maggie’s journey to healing was nothing short of miraculous.

Despite severe injuries from previous abuse, which included being used for target practice, having her eyes removed, and a broken jaw, Maggie showed an extraordinary capacity for affection.

As Carlin recalls, when Maggie meets someone new, she immediately rushes up and rubs against them as if she were a friendly cat. Such resilience is remarkable given her traumatic history.

Initially, Carlin planned only to foster Maggie, not adopt her, as she had recently taken in another rescue, Mishka, who had behavioral issues. The two dogs did not initially get along due to Mishka’s past trauma.

However, with time and patience, Maggie and Mishka became close companions. This bond convinced Carlin that Maggie had found her forever home.
