Two years ago, Mau was discovered in a graveyard, his frail body barely clinging to life. A kind stranger found him in this grave state—thin, exhausted, dehydrated, and struggling to breathe—abandoned on the roadside.

Many passersby had assumed the worst and moved on, thinking Mau was already gone. The kind-hearted person who eventually noticed him was moved to tears by Mau’s dire situation and decided to help immediately.

Since it was a holiday and all veterinary clinics were closed, the rescuer took Mau home, hoping to offer some comfort.

Despite efforts to feed him, Mau seemed uninterested, sitting sadly in a corner. Determined to help, the rescuer took him to a veterinary hospital at the first opportunity the next morning.

Veterinarians conducted an MRI scan, suspecting issues with Mau’s spine. To their surprise, they discovered two bullets lodged in Mau’s small body—one near his chest and another in the middle of his spine.

These bullets had been there for some time, complicating treatment. Tests revealed that Mau’s liver, kidneys, and digestive system were functioning poorly, although there were no infections.

While doctors searched for ways to remove the bullets safely, Mau began a slow recovery. Unfortunately, despite the care provided, he lost the use of his legs permanently. While this outcome was heartbreaking, Mau’s survival was a small victory.

After a period of treatment, the gentle and calm Mau was discharged from the hospital. Vets decided against surgery to remove the bullets due to the high risk of failure, opting instead to manage his condition as best as they could.
