When Phoenix was rescued, she was in one of the most dire conditions the animal charity Pitiful Animal had ever encountered. Her plight was discovered when the rescue team spotted her lying alone on a patch of barren land.

The young dog was frail, completely covered in ants, and her paws were crawling with insects. In obvious distress and unable to stand, she lay there unnoticed by passersby on the side of the road.

The rescuers were shocked by the indifference people showed toward Phoenix’s suffering. Even when they offered her food, she was too weak to eat.

Immediately, they removed the ants and hurried her to a veterinary hospital for urgent care, explained her rescuer.

Veterinarians conducted a thorough examination and suspected that Phoenix might suffer from a pelvic fracture and cancer.

Besides those potential issues, they found she was severely anemic, malnourished, and had a dangerously low body temperature. Fortunately, two subsequent tests ruled out cancer and other major illnesses.

Initially, the medical staff administered serum infusions and medication to help stabilize her body temperature. Over time, they transitioned to using heated blankets for ongoing warmth.

Despite these efforts, Phoenix experienced constant muscle spasms, indicating potential nerve damage.

After two months of intensive care, Phoenix was finally stable enough for her first bath. The entire medical team worked tirelessly to save her, against all odds.

Phoenix’s progress was remarkable and uplifting. Three months after her rescue, she transformed into a healthy and vibrant dog.

Once gaunt and desolate, she now enjoys a fulfilling life many other animals only dream about. Her recovery brought immense joy and satisfaction to everyone involved in her care.
