After losing his cherished dog, Steve Greig sought comfort in a mission to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Channeling his grief into action, he decided to offer a caring home to senior dogs that often face difficulties finding adopters.

Reflecting on his emotional journey, Greig shared, “I still felt so terrible about it. I decided that the only way I would feel better was if something good happened that probably wouldn’t have happened if he had not died.”

With this mindset, he welcomed his first rescue, a 12-year-old Chihuahua with health issues, into his home.

This marked the beginning of a touching journey where Greig opened his heart and home to senior dogs commonly overlooked in shelters.

Today, he is the proud caretaker of ten elderly rescue dogs, along with a pig, chicken, and turkey, forming a unique and cherished family.

Greig’s routine starts early, at 5 am, as he prepares personalized meals catering to the specific dietary needs of each animal.

His day is filled with responsibilities ranging from veterinary appointments to relaxed walks in the park, all revolving around the care of his beloved companions.

“I can always rely on having at least three or four dogs attached when I sit or lie down,” he shares on Instagram, highlighting the constant companionship he receives.

Discussing the joy of nurturing senior dogs, Greig values their wisdom and finds it easy to form meaningful connections with them.

He notes, “These older dogs know who they are. It’s just fulfilling to know that these adorable animals are happy, loved, and well taken care of.”

Despite the challenges of managing such a lively household, Greig finds deep satisfaction in providing a sanctuary for animals in need.

“A normal day for me is getting up at 5 am and making breakfast for all of them,” he says, underscoring the dedication and love that defines his everyday life.
