Rescue Dog’s Inspiring Recovery: From Despair to a Loving Forever Home
While on a walk through the woods with our rescue dog, we were startled by cries coming from the bushes. Our dogs, sensing something was wrong, led us to the source—a small dog desperately in need of help.
The sight was heartbreaking. Unable to walk and trembling with fear, this poor dog, whom we later named Hope, had clearly been through a lot.
She had spent her life being exploited for breeding and was abandoned when she became sick and useless for those purposes. Left helpless and hungry, she was on the brink of death.
Hope’s fragile body was covered in painful sores, and her skin was raw and inflamed. We quickly took her to the veterinarian for a thorough examination.
Tests showed that Hope’s spine was misaligned, likely from being confined in a small cage for long periods. This explained her cautious and withdrawn demeanor.
Further examinations revealed a large hernia and a broken pelvis, which accounted for her inability to walk. We hoped she would not be permanently paralyzed.
Under emergency veterinary care, Hope was hospitalized to stabilize her condition and keep her closely monitored.
Four days later, Hope was stable enough to go home with our volunteer, Krista, who took on the task of administering her medications and supplements.

One month into her recovery, veterinarians were pleased with Hope’s progress. She had grown strong enough to undergo surgery to repair her hernia and was spayed simultaneously.
Hope began to embrace human companionship, forming new friendships, and becoming increasingly sociable.
Nearly three months into her recovery, Hope was fully healed. She found a forever home with a family in Metha. Witnessing her happiness and thriving spirit brought immense joy to all of us who were part of her rescue and recovery journey.
