Brave Belgian Malinois Eva Saves Owner From Mountain Lion Attack, Inspires Worldwide Awe
Dogs are often regarded and their unwavering devotion to their owners is well-documented, even when it involves putting themselves in harm’s way.
This was certainly true for Eva, a Belgian Malinois who heroically saved her owner from a life-threatening encounter with a mountain lion.
Erin Wilson, who lives in Trinity County, California, was taking a peaceful walk with Eva, her 2-and-a-half-year-old canine friend, when the day took a dangerous turn.

As reported by the Sacramento Bee, a mountain lion suddenly attacked, ripping through Erin’s jacket with its claws. Alone and in need of help, Erin called out to her faithful dog, Eva.
Bravely answering the call, Eva sprang into action, launching herself at the mountain lion with a powerful strike. This courageous act shifted the lion’s focus away from Erin, giving her some respite.
Despite Eva’s bold defense, the mountain lion proved too strong and latched onto her head, inflicting serious injuries.
Not giving up on her protector, Erin fought back, using sticks and stones. In a fortunate twist, a passing motorist stopped to assist, using pepper spray to drive the wild animal away.

Eva was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries but managed to survive. To help cover her medical bills, Erin set up a GoFundMe page, expressing gratitude for Eva’s improving condition and the veterinarians’ optimistic outlook.
Although Eva is still recovering and remains sedated to manage pressure on her skull, Erin shares updates on her dog’s condition.
Eva suffered two skull fractures, a puncture to her sinus cavity, and swelling around her left eye, which has affected her vision.

Despite these injuries, Eva’s valiant actions undoubtedly saved Erin’s life. Capt. Patrick Foy of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife stated, “I believe it’s reasonable to say the dog definitely saved her life.”
On her fundraising page, Erin conveys her deep appreciation: “My dog is my hero, and I owe her my life.”
Eva’s story is a powerful testament to the bravery and loyalty of dogs. Her actions serve as a reminder of the incredible bond between dogs and their owners.
Share Eva’s inspiring tale of courage with others and celebrate the selfless spirit of our four-legged friends.
